Knotts Soak City
Palm Springs California is known to get pretty warm; highs in the 100s are normal during the summer months. For locals and visitors alike, Knott’s Soak City is the spot to cool down while having a good time. Knott’s Soak City has 20 rides and attractions that include a lazy river, 13 water slides, and a wave pool. Soak City also has a health club with fitness classes and exercise equipment.
Some of the major thrill rides featured at Soak City includes Pacific Spin, a 132 foot long tunnel that rafters slide down before they are dropped into a 70 foot funnel. Speed freaks will have a blast racing side by side on the 7 story tall Tidal Wave Tower. For those not easily scared of the dark, Sea Snake sends riders down a 50 foot enclosed dark tube. Other assortments of slides can be found at Pipeline Point in the back end of the park.
There a few attractions for families and younger guests. One place that the kids will run to as soon as they walk in the park is the 4 story Kahuna Beach House, where they can spray each other with hoses, slide down one of the 5 water slides, or get drenched by the 1,000 gallon dropping bucket. At Rip Tide Reef, guests can grab an inner tube and ride the waves in the 800,000 gallon wave pool. If the machine generated waves are too much, the 600 foot Sunset River lazy river might be a little more relaxing.
Soak City has several food options including sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs, and Dip n Dot ice cream. 21 year and older guests can have a drink and relax in the water at the Big Island yacht Club. There are also lockers and cabanas for rent, changing rooms, and various shops just in case you forgot sunscreen. Season passes are available and are a great value if you go at least twice a year. Overall, Knott’s Soak City is a great place to beat the heat with a solid variety of rides and attractions.
